Scarves, 170 to 180 x 32 cm

The everyday size: long enough to loop once and let the ends hang, and narrow enough to sit under a coat collar. There are solids with fringed ends in aqua, blue, grey and burgundy; plaids and tartans, from soft pastel pink, beige and grey to dark grey, beige and deep red; a plaid in three colourways, Check Pink, Check Orange and Check Beige; and a plain scarf for men and women in six colours: Baby Pink, Red, Black, Camel, Blue and Light Grey.

Oversized shawl scarves, 200 x 70 cm

Big enough to wear two ways: folded and looped as a deep scarf under an open coat, or opened out over the shoulders as a wrap on a cool evening, in an air-conditioned office or on a flight. The solids, with fringe, come in camel, royal blue, grey, pink and red. There is also a classic check in camel, black, white and red, and a grey check in 60% Australian wool and 40% cashmere.

Wool or cashmere?

Wool comes from sheep and cashmere from cashmere goats. Cashmere is the softer of the two and costs more. Australian wool is warm, cared for in much the same way, and a sensible everyday choice. If you are deciding between them, feel both in the shop, or look at our cashmere scarves.

Looking after it

Hand wash in cool water with a wool wash, or dry clean. Do not wring; dry flat in the shade; do not tumble dry. A light steam refreshes the fibres between wears. More on our Cashmere Care page.

Delivery is free in Australia on orders over $99, click and collect at The Glen is free, and gift wrapping is $25. See our Christmas gift guide for more ideas.

Questions

Are these scarves made in Australia? Yes, all of them are made in Australia.

Scarf or shawl scarf: which should I choose? A scarf (170 to 180 x 32 cm) is for wearing around the neck, under or over a coat. A shawl scarf (200 x 70 cm) does that too, folded, and also opens out to cover the shoulders. If you mostly want warmth at the neck, take a scarf; if you also want a wrap for evenings and travel, take a shawl scarf.

How do I wash a wool scarf? By hand in cool water with a wool wash, or dry clean. Squeeze the water out gently without wringing, then dry it flat in the shade. Do not tumble dry. Always follow the care label.
